ReWeave, a student-led initiative, in collaboration with Mumbai-based home textile fabric business G. M. Syntex, hopes to introduce its first community-based skilling program. The objective is to give people from marginalized communities practical training in textile-making skills, so they can access employment opportunities in the textile industry. The program's goal is to provide a direct pipeline from education to employment.
Concurrently, ReWeave intends to partner with the G. M. Syntex supply chain, which would allow production waste and leftover textiles to be recycled into useful inputs. The project also proposes to set up a podcast showcasing innovative Indian enterprises leading eco-conscious trends in various industries to further boost sustainability discourse. At its core, Reweave seeks to encourage sustainable practices and social justice in the textile sector.
